This section covers 8 glossary entries. Casino pages use every one of these terms all the time, yet hardly any stop to explain them. For every term you get its definition, the usual misreading attached to it, and a worked example with the sums shown, since people tend to get these terms wrong in one predictable way instead of simply never having met them.

Across 8 pages, a single entry is the subject of each, never a digest of many. A field marked “not published” above is explained on the entry’s page, which names the party that would have had to release the figure.

Each entry in a paragraph

Every entry carries sufficient detail to let you judge which page merits a click.

Wagering requirement, in detail

Short for also called playthrough or turnover. The number of times a bonus amount must be bet before withdrawal of it is allowed.

Fixed by: The operator, through its bonus terms, rather than the studio. You will run into it in Bonus terms and conditions.

The misreading: A common misreading takes wagering to mean ‘deposit this much’.

The Game weighting entry

Short for also called contribution rate. The percentage by which stakes on a given game are credited against a wagering requirement.

Whoever runs the casino sets it: the operator, promotion after promotion, category after category. Where you meet it: Bonus T&C, usually presented as a table setting out game categories alongside their rates.

The misreading: People often take for granted that ₱100 wagered clears exactly ₱100 of a wagering requirement, whichever game it went on.

Bankroll management in full

Making the call on what is at risk in advance and sticking to that figure as the stopping point.

Fixed by: The player. Nothing else sets it. Look for it on: Responsible gambling pages and deposit limit settings.

The misreading: losses chased are often labelled as a comeback.

Free spins explained

Spins in a feature round that are awarded free of any additional stake.

Fixed by: With a game feature it is the game studio, with a promotion it is the operator. Where you meet it: On game feature lists, and in a different sense in bonus terms.

The misreading: Free spins handed out by an operator as a promotion should not be confused with an in-game free-spin round, though the name is the same.

Maximum bet rule in full

The same rule goes by the name max stake rule as well. While a bonus is being wagered, a limit applies to the stake on a single spin or hand, and breaking it commonly voids the bonus and the winnings.

Controlled by the operator and written into its bonus terms. Where you meet it: Laid down by bonus terms and conditions, and now and then enforced automatically by the game client.

The misreading: The natural assumption is that a maximum bet rule is a concern for deliberately big stakers alone.

Scatter symbol, in detail

This symbol pays or triggers a feature no matter where it lands.

Controlled by the studio that built the game, and listed in its paytable. Where you meet it: On the feature list of a game, often alongside free spins.

The misreading: The belief that scatters become ‘due’ after a dry run is a widely held one.

The RTP entry

Short for return to player. Long-run player return on a game, as a percentage of all the money wagered.

Fixed by: The game studio, when it constructs the game. You will see it in game spec tables and in studio info panels.

The misreading: Where people go wrong is in assuming a 96% RTP returns 96% of their money on an evening’s play.

Turnover in full

Short for also called handle. The sum of all stakes over a period of play, with each wager counted every time it is placed and not once per deposit.

Fixed by: The operator’s platform records it, and play itself generates it. Where you meet it: Terms attached to bonuses, statements about responsible gambling, and account activity history.

The misreading: It is common to confuse turnover with either the deposit total or the current balance.

Check glossary details in the game itself

No part of these definitions depends on the standing of this site. Every item on the list can be tested against the game itself:

  1. Open any slot’s own information screen. Everything is laid out in the paytable, including the way-count and feature rules, which makes it the main reference for each mechanical term defined on this page.
  2. Compare a way-count against the grid. Reading a 5x4 grid as 1,024 ways means 4 raised to the 5th power, so that figure measures how the grid is laid out and says nothing about how generous the game is.
  3. When it comes to a bonus term, go to the conditions the operator wrote and skip any summary of them. Wagering requirement multiplies one amount, and whether that amount is the bonus alone or the bonus plus the deposit can double or halve the result.
  4. If a studio gives no RTP, see whether two sources that quote one agree with each other. For JILI games the two numbers can sit up to two points apart, so neither one can be treated as the authority.

The thing most often got wrong here

Most people trip over the same thing with these terms: they assume the casino decides them. Mostly it cannot: the studio locks in RTP, volatility, paylines, wilds and scatters while building the game, and whichever site hosts it has no way to change them.

One exception stands out: the wagering requirement, which an operator sets inside its own bonus terms. The entry tells you which of the two applies, as that decides who should receive a complaint, and a complaint addressed to the wrong one leads nowhere.

Putting these glossary to work at 888JILI

  1. Open any game at 888JILI and find its info or help screen.
  2. Use the definitions given earlier to read the RTP, the volatility and the maximum win it lists.
  3. Pick a volatility that suits your budget, since a small balance lasts longer on lower volatility.
  4. Decide on a loss limit before you spin for the first time, and walk away once you hit it.

FAQ

Which of these terms is something the casino decides?

Judging by what is shown, there is one: the wagering requirement, set by the operator inside its own bonus terms. Everything else is decided by the studio that made the game, so the site hosting it has no say.

Why do RTP figures differ between sites?

The cause is that a number of studios publish none, and the figures passed around for their titles are third-party estimates that fail to agree with one another. If two comparison sites show different numbers for one game, chances are neither can point to a source.

Are these definitions specific to the Philippines?

No. Every casino carries identical slot mechanics, since they belong to the games themselves. The payment and licensing setting is what makes this Philippine-specific, and the payment and provider sections deal with that.

Where do RTP and volatility part company?

Think of RTP as a game's average payback once enough rounds have been played. Volatility is the pattern in which the money comes back. Two titles may each pay back 96%, yet one hands out small wins all the time while the other stays nearly silent until a huge hit, so they play very differently.

Does a high maximum win tell you the game is worth playing?

Treat it as an upper limit with almost no chance attached, and never as a prediction. Seeing a 100,000x maximum next to a medium volatility label on one game tells you the top figure is a bookkeeping number, not an outcome worth building a plan on.

Where do these definitions come from?

It follows from how the mechanics work, and you can verify it on any game's own information screen. No entry here rests on a statement about any operator, and none gives a number for one particular title.
